1. Get your teams ready for SPRUMMER 2010: Registration opens soon!
New for 2010 we are going to be combining our Spring and Summer seasons to create one ultra-cool season: Sprummer 2010!
In the past we have held seperate leagues only running 8 weeks in
duration. By popular demand we will now combine the two seasons and
have a full 15 to 16 week season starting in late May. Making the
registration process and the lives of our team captains much easier!
Registration will open March 8th.

just celebrated our 7 year anniversary! We started leagues here in
Ottawa February 17, 2003 with 350 total weekly players. We are now over
7,000 weekly players! Thanks to everyone who has supported us over the
years and we look forward to many more great years ahead!

7. Winter Gym Use
OSSC relies on school gyms for many of our league sports. As such,
we must be courteous and respectful of rules so we can continue to be
granted permits. Please help us by ensuring you and your team are
courteous to the custodians and follow these highly enforced policies
by the schools:
1. Clean up your garbage when you leave!
Please remove all water bottles and debris before you leave the
gym! This is really important to ensure we are able to continue using
facilities.
2. No Dark Soled Shoes
Please make sure that your shoes are non-marking, so that the
floors at schools stay clean. Scuff test your shoes with your heels at
every school BEFORE you start playing.
3. No Practicing in the Halls
Please do not practice in the school halls. Ceiling tiles, light
fixtures, and windows are delicate and can be damaged by equipment.
4. End your game on time
Games must end at the scheduled end time (no exceptions). Our
permits only run until 5 minutes after the last scheduled game of the
night. Please be sure to leave accordingly, and out of the door within
5 minutes. Custodians have families to get home to, and need to clean
the gym first.

3. Get your designs in for the OSSC t-shirt contest
Submit your OSSC t-shirt design ideas for a chance at fame, friends &
a FREE Spring 2010 Team Registration (valued
at $630). Every year we update our t-shirt artwork... we figured who
better to help with this task than the creative minds of OSSC members!
To refresh those creative brains here is the current artwork.
a) Think about your design...Take some time to come up
with the most original idea you can think of. We're talking an idea so
amazing that your eyeballs may explode if you stare too long!b) Submit
your design to OSSC... Use the blank t-shirt template found here

4. Dodgeball - The hottest new workout?
We found a great article on Best Health Magazine's website about how great
of a workout Dodgeball is. Check out the article by clicking here

60 minute game of Dodgeball is exhausting!
5. Check out this OSSC trip - Whitewater canoeing at Palmer Rapids
What is it? A 2 day, 2 night camping and whitewater canoeing trip. The
trip includes instruction, paddling gear, meals and tents.
When is it? Friday June 11th to Sunday June 13th
Where is it? Palmer Rapids on the Madawaska River
How much is it? $360 (plus taxes)
This exciting weekend is an opportunity to learn the basic skills and
safety techniques you need to enjoy paddling a wilderness river. The
clinic is designed to provide excellent intruction in a relaxed and
enjoyable setting at Palmer Rapids on the Madawaska River, east of
Algonquin Park.
No previous whitewater experience is required but previous canoeing and
camping experience is advantageous. This clinic is offered in cooperation
with Black Feather - the wilderness adventure company.
6. Tremblant wrap-up
Thanks to everyone who joined us for the 4th Annual Mont Tremblant
Getaway. We had a fantastic time organizing this event and owe a big thank
you to everyone who attended for making this a memorable weekend. Stay
tuned for all of the pictures to be posted to the website.
